Here
are some pictures from the Texas State Fiddle Contest (Fiddlers' Frolics) in Hallettsville, Texas.
We have been going there for the last six years.
We discovered this event when looking through a monthly magazine that we get from our utility company.
It has a short listing of things happening in Texas.
Since we had never seen a fiddling competition, we thought it might be fun to visit.
Little did we know how exciting and entertaining it would be.
Fiddlers come from all over Texas (and the country) to compete for prizes.
Ages range from 3 to over 90 and the skill level is amazing.
At first I tried to take a few pictures of the performers, but was surprised at how poorly the pictures came out.
The lighting on the stage (at that time) was poor and a combination of fluorescent and incandescent lights.
Sometimes a performer's face would be blue, green or yellow depending on which way they turned.
This last year the stage lighting has been dramatically improved - black background curtains and bright daylight lights.
This website is just a small way to say thanks to the performers and Fiddlers' Frolics for the fun that we have experienced over the years.
If I left out someone's picture, it was because the picture didn't come out correctly.
Thanks again for putting on a wonderful show.
See you next year.
