India - November 2001 - Page 8
These are some pictures from my tour in India. It was a 15 day tour that covered Rajasthan.
Warning: There are a lot of pictures and they are large - 1024 by 768 so it
may take some time to download them if you have a slow connection.
Several birds in the Sanctuary.
More birds - one needs a serious telephoto lens to take good pictures here.

A guide with Michelle and Jo. The guides were really good - They could spot and name hundreds of birds. It was one of the high points of the trip.

These are the dhobi wallahs. They clean your clothes by beating them on a rock in a local stream or lake. Some on the tour had their clothes damaged (bleach stains & holes). They did a good job with my socks & shorts.

Picnic lunch at a palace. Note the people watching us - we always had someone staring at us.

A view in a palace.

A food vendor pushing his cart.

Truckload of women and children.

Three women with a suitcases and sacks on their head.

The Chai Wallah. Everyday we would stop and have Chai (Indian Tea). The tea is made in front of you in an elaborate ritual - boiling the water and milk and pouring into the glasses. We got chai along the road and in trains - it is GREAT!.
